The Gifford Marine Family opened their doors in 1927 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, after the halt of the famous whaling industry. The economy was flourishing due to cotton manufacturing in New Bedford. As a result to easy access to cotton and location to city waterways the textile industry prospered. Unfortunately, the textile period began to deteriorate due to the great depression and declined in the 1940's. Gifford Marine Co., Inc. moved to Dartmouth, Massachusetts in 1958 maintaining its efficiency in the marine industry.

Gifford Marine Co., Inc. was able to sustain the same guiding principles and aspirations it was founded on, even in the face of the great depression and in the decrease of the economy. Delivering great quality boats with exceptional customer service at a superb value. This tradition remains bright and firm.
